ALLIANCE Carer Voices’ short film with carers across Scotland

Launched on 9 June 2021 on WMTY Day, and within Carers Week, the film by The ALLIANCE’s Carer Voices project spotlights unpaid carers across Scotland sharing what really matters to them within their caring role.

Participants range from Shetland to South Ayrshire, and represent the diversity within carer experience. The film is introduced by Irene Oldfather, ALLIANCE Director of Strategic Partnerships and Engagement, and closed by Tommy Whitelaw, ALLIANCE National Lead for Caring and Outreach. It also features a contribution from Shaun Maher, Strategic Advisor on Person-Centred Care and Quality Improvement at the Scottish Government, and Chair of the WMTY Scotland steering group.

The film encourages the importance of honouring the 5 Must Do with Me steps:

  • What matters to you?
  • Who matters to you?
  • What kind of information do you need?
  • Nothing about me without me
  • Creating service flexibility
