What matters to you? A Swedish digital conference

Translation: “Share your experiences! What matters to you? day 4 June #WMTY19”

Cristin Lind, who is organising the conference for the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR), explains: “6 June is a national holiday here in Sweden, so we thought we’d kick things off early!”

The conference, now in its second year, will also be broadcast live online for hundreds of participants who will be taking part from across the entire country.

This year’s conference will feature examples of how asking patients and service users ‘What matters to you?’ creates person-centred care. New for this year, we will also explore how asking the same question of colleagues and staff creates joy in work and stronger teams.

The conference with feature a wide range of guests, including:

  • patient representatives Siri Kautsky and Inger Ros (Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation)
  • professional representatives Stefan Jutterdal (Swedish Association of Physiotherapists), Ida Kåhlin (Swedish Association of Occupational Therapy) and Ann Johansson (Swedish Association of Health Professionals)
  • Joakim Öhlén and Irma Lindström Kjellberg from the University of Gothenburg Centre for Person-centred Care, and
  • the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s Maureen Bisognano, who will be sending a video greeting.

SALAR members will also be sharing their own stories of how they’re using and developing the question ‘What matters to you?’ for their own patients, service users and colleagues.

“Examples from the regions of Jönköping, Västra Götaland, Stockholm, Skåne and Sörmland show great creativity and a real passion for person-centred care,” says SALAR’s Emma Spak, who will be moderating the conference along with colleagues Marie Blom Niklasson and Lena Forsman.

Look out for plenty of activity in Swedish on social media by following #WMTY19 on 4 June.
